Join us on an urbex photo trip to Armenia from 6 to 13 September 2025. Experience freedom and the most beautiful urbex in this extraordinary country. Doors that remain closed to others open for us. Discover urbex without vandalism, without graffiti and full of Soviet history.
You will get all the time you need to photograph at the sites. All urbex in Armenia is guarded. It is therefore very difficult and unwise to go urbex yourself. Hanzebeeld has been able to make arrangements with the owners, giving us unique opportunities.
In doing so, you'll be in one of the most special and mystical countries in the world and we'll naturally combine that with the main highlights.
Join us! We go with a small group of enthusiasts and with good, experienced guidance. There are no workshops or instructions and you have complete freedom.
For who?
De gevraagde fysieke inspanning zal beperkt zijn. Deze reis is daarom geschikt voor jong tot oud. Belangrijk is dat je van urbex fotografie houdt en wat verder wil kijken dan de bekende wegen. We reizen in groepen van maximaal 5 deelnemers.
When?
The arrival date of the urbex photo trip to Armenia is Saturday 6 September 2025. The programme ends on Saturday 13 September. You are of course free to travel further on your own before/after. We can always give you tips on that.
What are we going to do?
Armenia is a former Soviet country where much of the Soviets can still be found. Abandoned culture houses, factories, sanatoria, monasteries, pioneer camps and plenty of Soviet art. It's all there and plenty of it. Hanzebeeld has collaborated with Centraltour and set up a neat programme where everything passes by. Almost all places in Armenia are guarded and access has been agreed with all these people. So you can take photos in peace in unique places that are normally inaccessible.
Only urbex?
Urbex is the most important part of this trip, but the country has so much beauty that we made a good mix of it.
What does the day look like?
After waking up in our fine but not lavishly luxurious accommodation, we have breakfast and leave for the first location. We will visit different locations per day. In the evening, we are again at a different accommodation we have dinner together.
What do you bring?
Your camera (one spare camera will go with you) with extra batteries + charger, a tripod, a torch, sturdy shoes and everything else you would normally take with you.

Included
This urbex photo trip to Armenia from 6 to 13 September 2025 includes overnight accommodation (double room, single at extra cost of €250) with breakfast, 6 x lunch and dinner, hotel transfer, local transport, guidance, access to jointly visited sites and CO2 offsetting for Trees for All.
Not included
The outward and return journey, snacks, alcoholic drinks, tips, personal expenses, any entrance fees to locations not visited together, travel and cancellation insurance (compulsory), GGTO guarantee fund contribution €9.00, booking fee €15.
This trip has a departure guarantee from 4 participants. You can book your flight tickets afterwards. We can advise you on this.
Each urbex photo trip Armenia is preceded by a participant meeting.
In the unlikely event that the trip cannot go ahead, you will receive your money back within 3 days, minus booking fees and calamity fund charges.
Armenian guide
Hanzebeeld works together with Centraltour, the company of Nvard Melkonyan. She will be with our company for the entire trip, as will urbex photographer Wim Robbertsen. There will be plenty of personal guidance, if required. Nvard speaks good English, Russian and Farsi.
Experienced guide
Nvard is an amply experienced guide throughout Armenia. She is a walking encyclopaedia and knows a lot of background to what you see. From history to culture to geography and politics. She has extensive experience in guiding groups of up to 25 people.
Huge network
Sometimes it seems like Nvard knows everyone in Armenia. The fact is that she can always re-establish a line if needed.
Certainty
Hanzebeeld is experienced in organising photo trips to Armenia. We know the country well and know where to be and where not to be. In addition, Hanzebeeld is affiliated with garantiefonds GGTO.
