Programme urbex photo trip Armenia 13-20 Sept 2025
Day 1: arrival Armenia
The programme of this urbex photo trip Armenia starts in Echmiatsin. In the evening we will meet, together with Nvard from Central Tour, in a cosy and creative guesthouse. You will be told all kinds of practical things for day 2.
Day 2: World's oldest cathedral, abandoned theatres, bus station and plane
We start the day close to our guesthouse. After 12 years of restoration, the world's oldest cathedral (AD 301) has reopened and it is a unique opportunity to experience something of the service. After a tasty lunch, we drive north to visit several unique sites along the way. A cultural house, a beautiful Soviet bus station and an abandoned aeroplane. We end with an old fish factory. We spend the night in Tsaghkunk in a beautiful hotel with the most delicious food.
Day 3: Control rooms and two abandoned factories (possibly with model)
This day we visit a partly abandoned and partly working radio centre with unique control rooms. You will step back in time 60 years. We continue the day with two beautiful abandoned factories. In one of these factories it is possible to work with a model and we will have all the time we need to spread out. At the end of the day, we drive north and spend the night in Dilijan.
Day 4: Abandoned carpet factory (possibly with model) and abandoned church in the middle of the forest
In this beautiful, green, area lies an abandoned carpet factory. There is plenty of space here for a wide variety of urbex photography. The location also lends itself perfectly to working with a model. Here we take plenty of time. We continue our day with a short walk to an abandoned church in the middle of the forest. A gem. At the end of the day, we drive a bit westwards and spend the night in a larger town.
Day 5: Carpet factory, wire factory, electrical factory (possibly with model) and a culture house
We start this well-rounded day close to home. We visit a giant abandoned wire factory with beautiful machinery and set foot in an abandoned complex of an electrical factory, including office spaces. Also a great location to work with a model. We end the day with an abandoned and photogenic cultural house.
Day 6: Abandoned pools, theatre (possibly with model) and culture house
An architectural gem. Abandoned swimming pools and a sports hall. All in one location. Here you can get your photography heart racing. After a delicious lunch, we also visit a beautiful abandoned and partly dilapidated theatre (possibly with model) and a cultural house which, entirely in style, is even somewhat still in use. After this, we drive to the capital Yerevan and enjoy a lovely evening.
Day 7: Lenin theatre, factory, train and bus station and an institute
This well-rounded day starts in a huge Soviet factory site. There is everything here. Magnificent mosaics, machinery, offices, a theatre... you will be short of eyes and ears. Afterwards, we visit two photogenic stations in beautiful Soviet style. We end with a unique look at a partly disused institute in Yerevan. After the following night, the programme of this trip ends. You can, of course, explore much more. We will be happy to give you advice. The ‘programme urbex photo trip Armenia’ can be supplemented or changed in consultation.
Day 8: Time in Yerevan, departure for home
A great day to enjoy Yerevan a little more, maybe buy some fun and goodies. We'll transfer you back to the airport for your journey back home.
