Hanzebeeld organises photography tours through Georgia and Armenia for small groups. We combine stunning landscapes, culture, unique villages and towns, and places off the beaten track. As we know both countries well, we can put together a trip that focuses on photography and allows plenty of time for shooting on location.
You’ll travel with experienced guides and, along the way, get to know the stories, culture and people behind the places you’re photographing. There’s no rushing from one attraction to the next, but rather the freedom to look around, explore and take photographs.
This photography tour is organised on request and can be tailored to the group’s preferences.
The group
We travel in small groups. This gives us plenty of time to take photographs, allows us to remain flexible, and makes it easier to tailor the trip to the group’s preferences.
For who?
This photo trip is designed for anyone who loves photography, culture and travel, and who enjoys exploring beyond the well-known sights. The level of physical exertion is minimal, and prior photography experience is not required.
When?
This photography tour to Georgia and Armenia does not have a fixed departure date. Are you interested in travelling with your own group? For groups of three or more people, we can explore the options and decide on the trip, dates and itinerary together.
What are we going to do?
Armenia and Georgia are former Soviet republics with a wealth of natural beauty, culture and history. From ancient monasteries and small villages to impressive mountain landscapes and remarkable relics from the Soviet era.
Together with Centraltour Hanzebeeld organises a photography tour taking in unique and photogenic spots in both countries. In doing so, we deliberately seek out locations off the beaten track.
Photography is at the heart of the trip. We therefore allow plenty of time at the various locations. This isn’t a programme where you rush from one sight to the next, but one that gives you time to look around, explore and capture the images you’ve come here for. Depending on your interests, we can focus on landscape, culture, people, architecture or, for example, urban exploration. This ensures the trip is tailored to the group.
Only culture?
Culture and history are a key part of a photography tour through Georgia and Armenia, but both countries have much more to offer. Think of impressive mountain landscapes, small villages, unique architecture and places that evoke the Soviet era.
We’ll decide together what the focus of the trip will be. Would you prefer more scenery, more culture, or perhaps a visit to some urbex locations? The trip can be tailored to what you’d like to see and photograph.
What does the day look like?
We’ll start the day at a leisurely pace with breakfast together. We’ll then set off for our first location, where we’ll take plenty of time to look around, explore and take photographs. Around midday, we’ll have lunch at or near the location.
Depending on the programme, we’ll either travel on to the next destination or stay where we are for a bit longer. At the end of the day, we’ll round off the day together with dinner at a local restaurant.
Exactly what a day looks like depends on the route and the group’s preferences. We deliberately avoid planning too much into a single day: The focus is on the time spent taking photos.
What do you bring?
Bring along the camera kit you enjoy using. A tripod is recommended, for example for landscapes, architecture and low-light photography. Which lenses and other accessories will come in handy depends on what you mainly want to photograph during your trip.
What does it cost?
The price of this photography tour depends on the group size, the duration of the trip, the chosen accommodation and the details of the itinerary. For this reason, we do not offer a fixed price for this trip. Once we’ve discussed your requirements, we’ll put together a travel proposal and a suitable quote. That way, you’ll know exactly in advance how much the trip will cost and what’s included.
Included
What is included in the tour price depends on the agreed itinerary. This typically includes accommodation, breakfast, lunch and dinner, hotel transfers, local transport, a tour guide and admission to sites visited as a group.
Not included
Not included are the return journey to Georgia and/or Armenia, personal expenses, alcoholic drinks, tips, travel and cancellation insurance, and any activities or admission fees not included in the agreed programme. Any booking fees and the contribution to the GGTO Guarantee Fund will also be charged separately.

Hanzebeeld works in partnership with Centraltour, the company run by Nvard Melkonyan. Nvard leads the tour alongside Hanzebeeld’s owner, Wim Robbertsen. This allows us to combine photographic guidance with extensive local knowledge of Armenia and Georgia. Nvard speaks English, Russian and Farsi fluently.
Experienced guide
Nvard is an amply experienced guide throughout Armenia and Georgia. She is a walking encyclopaedia and knows a lot of background to what you see. From history to culture to geography and politics. She has extensive experience in guiding groups of up to 25 people.
